The intelligent interface for efficiency in the laboratory

The "DataVue" software was developed in close cooperation with one of our industry partners (Ortho-Cinical-Diagnostics GmbH, based in Cologne) for use with their analyzers for automated blood grouping and serves as an accessory for these systems.

Increased efficiency through automation and intelligent interfaces - these are what the DataVue system provides. The software solution, in combination with BECOM BlutDepot, can be effortlessly equipped in stages to create a fully-fledged blood bank management system.
DataVue is a data management system that makes the data from one or more ORTHO devices available to the user, thus communicating in a centralised manner with the Laboratory Information System (LIS). The sample-based data are obtained and, in so far as the patient data are available, managed as patient-based. In doing so, DataVue carries out a plausibility check within the sample and a preliminary findings comparison of the patient’s preliminary results.

Product features

  • Connecting multiple ORTHO analysis devices to a LIS interface
  • Connecting different ORTHO analysis devices to a LIS interface (the fully automatic AutoVue Innova® and Vision®/Max machines as well as a reader can be connected) - this also makes it possible to change from one device to another without any problem
  • Connection to LIS via drive release or FTP file transfer
  • Connection to several LIS is possible
  • Query mode: The machine receives its requirements when it is called up - after positioning the sample tubes, the appropriate request is sent to the machine, insofar as this has already been sent from the LIS
  • Query mode for LIS is possible - weak D and partial D results are possible Implementation of virtually any antigen testing, subject to appropriate reagents
  • Execution of the second rhesus formula also possible for AutoVue® Innova
  • Reflex tests can be set-up; these are tests that can be generated automatically based on either previous test results or almost any definable requirement criteria (e.g. age, gender of the patient or requested test profiles)
  • Stored blood group as a reflex test - for each cross-matching test, the blood group test is automatically requested for the stored blood
  • The request priority (standard/emergency) can be changed before being transmitted to the device
  • Second reading can be configured according to various criteria
  • Dual control principle can also be configured
  • Follow-up diagnosis simply by scanning one of the cartridges in the test profile - all associated partial results are automatically selected and compared to preliminary findings upon request
  • Interpretation of weak RhD property in accordance with Richtlinie Hämotherapie [Haemotharapy Guideline], Gesamtnovelle 2017 as weak D or Partial D is possible
  • Use of individually created text blocks for commenting on results
  • Second reading parameters (reader, reaction chamber-related comments) displayed on the LIS interface
  • Documentation of all batches and reagents, as well as modified results and reaction strengths
  • Rili-BÄK [Guidelines of the German Medical Board for Quality Assurance of Quantitative Medical Laboratory Tests] compliant documentation of quality controls
  • Results printout as a daily journal and as an individual report on an A4 printer or as a PDF, optionally with images of the reaction columns
  • Result can be printed out on customer-specific report forms (as can emergency card labels, for example)
  • Optional printout of stored blood consignment notes
  • Printing of sample barcodes, reagent barcodes and duplicate barcodes
  • Virtually any statistics can be generated (e.g. for billing including the price per report, test statistics, recording of cartridge consumption)
  • Excel export of the statistics can be generated for external analysis
    Security
  • Without a user login, it is impossible to view patient data and results
  • User login per chip card or login possible
  • Automatic data backup and archiving
  • Five components of patient data, where available, are used for patient identification: Surname, first name, date of birth, birth name and unique (life-long) patient ID
  • Automated follow-up tests depending on certain results (reflex tests)

Cost-effectiveness

  • Only one LIS interface is required for several ORTHO analysis devices
  • Preliminary findings test to optimise the tests carried out

Other outstanding features

  • Windows Terminal Server enabled - so that multi-site work and remote validation are possible
  • Importing of results from ORTHO Resolvigen™ and forwarding to the LIS interface
  • Powerful SQL database for all test data including the images of the reaction columns - the conversion of the data if the application is further developed is guaranteed. This makes directive-compliant documentation in accordance with the current laws possible.
  • Simple search for results over the entire life of the database
